Elizabeth Wilson in 1892. Some of his brothers were William J,(1833), John
T, (1858),  Denis(1860), James E(1866) married America Elizabeth's mother,
Lucinda Wilson June 14,1887.

Plum, Tuscaloosa AL in 1850 fed census and 1870 census there....married 12
Jan 1858  in Tuscaloosa to Eliza Alexander.
   Wm A is son of John Shelby and Martha Jones; John was born in South

  Not sure who John Shelby's parents were. But he was was born about 1796 in
Chester Co?, SC.  He died on December 11, 1875 in Kennedale, Tuscaloosa Co,
AL. He served in the military Betw 1812 and 1815 in SC.
  Military Rec - Service Pension, War 1812- Claim #20795- Act of 9 Mar 1878;
Cert # 13641, Tusc Co, AL Widow's Brief -filed 9 Mar 1878 this county. John
Shelby served as a Pvt in Capt Wm Welsh's CO, Inf. of SC, from 24 Sept 1814
to 9 Mar 1815. Admitted 4 Dec 1878, to a pension of $8. per month, from 9
Mar 1878 Bounty Land Claim- 32017-80-55, issued 10 Apr 1878.

  Affidavits Statements for Proof of Claim for a Widows Pension for Mrs
Martha SHELBY.  State of AL, Tuscaloosa Co 26 Jun 1878 "James BROWN who
being by one duly sworn in oath states that he was b in 1799 the 5 Jany in
the state of SC. That he was acquainted with John SHELBY in his life time.
that he made his acquaintance abt the yr 1812 & bef his marr to Mrs Martha
SHELBY, who he also knew bef her marr. He knew Mrs Martha SHELBY when her
name was Martha JONES. He saw the said John SHELBY & Martha SHELBY liv
together as man & wife in the yr 1817"...It was in the yr 1816 or 1817 in
the State of SC. He has known them for 45 yrs in the State of AL... He knew
John SHELBY went to the war in the fall of 1814 & participated in the Battle
of New Orleans, Jan 13 1815.  Signed James (X) BROWN.  Sworn to & subscribed
bef me this 25th day of Jun 1878, W.H.H. Baker, J.P. Wit's-James W FROST,
George DOWD

  Also this day....Nancy E FROST, ...states on oath that she is a dau of
John & Martha SHELBY; her father is dead. He died at Kennedale Tuscaloosa
Co; her mother is now living. The age of the witness is 48yrs (b 1830). She
was b in TN (Co not given). She knew all of her brothers & sisters.
Following this statement is a list of her bros & sis'- as shown on the FGS

  She states "All of them are dead, except herself & her brother John M, the
oldest child, who went to Brazil after the war & has never been heard from
since [Virginia Lake says this is wrong]. If John M is living he would be
abt 60 yrs of age. "I have lived in Tuscaloosa Co for over 40 yrs & still
live there...I married Jackson G. FROST in 1849 & still liv with
him...mother of 5 ch. She & James BROWN sign with their mark's.
        John M SHELBY was born in 1818 in SC?.   He's age 32 1850 b GA with
family. According to John'
        sister, Nancy E FROST, in their mother's pension appl 1878,(for
father in war of 1812) she states that only
        she & her bro, John were still living. That he went to Brazil & was
never heard from again.
                        ii.     Abigail SHELBY was born about 1821 in SC?.
She died before 1878 in AL?.  Affidavit, 1878
