This will apply to just about any surname..
I received the word on the following from Francis Keenan-His wife is a
descendant of Joshua and Susanna Shelby:
Shelby Researcher [Richard V Shelby] called to ask me [Francis Keenan] a
question about an ad for a Shelby book and a disc which he recently
received. I had not heard about this one. Sounds like a rip-off to me. Here
is what I know.
A seller at 1181 S. Parker Rd., Suite 105, Denver Co 80231-2152, is
advertising a book ...International Shelby Family Yearbook. Published by
Morph Corp., LLC, Publishers of the International Shelby Family
News. Price $99. YIKES!
++++++
My response -Judy -
I tried a google search on the name of the book first- when it came up
zero, I began to smell fish...Being familiar with Halbarts of Ohio scam,
dating back to the late 1960s, is what caused me to try the Corp. name...bingo!
I like this web site and to check it from time to time -This will give you
more info-and yes, it is a safe site...If you don't want to click on this
just go to rootsweb and find the link...

The scam has gone high tech - Years ago it was Halberts of Bath Ohio,
printing family books -Postal officials have tried for years to shut them
down - They started out charging $10.OO for a book on your surname -which
amounted to a few how-to tips, a coat of arms, and a list of your surname
taken from telephone books-the pages weren't even numbered.
They need to be stopped -- and these are apt to sell like crazy over the
I'net..
